Demuth
Recording Secretary
David
M. Demuth, son of Herve M. Demuth, is a second generation
Teamster of Local 251. Dave has been a loyal, dedicated
member of Local 251 since 1983.
Dave's
career as a driver has kept him busy. From 1983 until 1987,
he worked for Roger Williams Foods. From 1987 until 1992,
he drove for M&G Convoy (Carhaul). In 1992, Dave drove
for Brooks Drugs, and when the company moved to Connecticut,
its drivers joined Teamsters Local 493 in Uncasville, CT.
In 1995, Dave started driving for Liquid Carbonic (now Praxair)
in RI. He was elected Shop Steward at Praxair in 1997. Next,
Dave was elected to the Executive Board as Recording Secretary
in 2001. Most recently, in October of 2003, he started working
with the AFL-CIO's Dislocated Worker Program.
David
believes in working hard and doing the job right. He volunteers
for many Teamster activities, such as Teamsters Political
Action Committee and Teamsters Human Rights Committee, acts
as Coordinator of the Union "Yes" Salvation Army
Kettle Day, and is involved with the RI Food Bank, picket
lines, fundraisers, etc.
